Nairn

Nairn is a small coastal town in the Scottish Highlands, set on the shores of the Moray Firth, around twelve miles east of Inverness. Known for its long sandy beaches and a climate that is comparatively mild and dry for the region, it has attracted seaside holidaymakers since Victorian times. The town boasts two well-regarded golf courses, including Nairn Golf Club, a historic links course that has hosted notable tournaments over the years. The harbour area, known as Fishertown, retains the character of its old fishermen's cottages and reflects the town's herring-fishing heritage. Nairn also serves as a convenient base for exploring the surrounding area, with Culloden Battlefield, Cawdor Castle and the shores of Loch Ness all within an hour's drive. The Moray Firth, visible along the coastline, is home to a resident dolphin population that can sometimes be spotted from the shore.
