Jau-Dignac et Loirac

Jau-Dignac-et-Loirac is a village in the northern Médoc area of the Gironde department, bordering the Gironde estuary. The area combines Médoc-appellation vineyards with marshland and estuary shores, offering a quiet, rural setting typical of this part of the peninsula. The hamlet of Goulée, within the commune, has a small harbour where visitors can see 'carrelets', the traditional stilted fishing huts found along the Gironde estuary. The village serves as a good base for exploring the Médoc wine region, with its châteaux and wine estates scattered across the surrounding countryside, as well as for water-based activities such as fishing or birdwatching in the nearby wetlands. The tip of the Médoc peninsula and the Atlantic coast, around thirty kilometres away, are also within reach for excursions to the beaches of Soulac-sur-Mer or Le Verdon-sur-Mer.
