Sauze d'Oulx

Sauze d'Oulx is a mountain resort in Piedmont, in the upper Susa Valley, sitting at around 1,509 metres above sea level. It forms part of the Milky Way (Vialattea) ski area, which links several Italian resorts including Sansicario, Sestriere, Cesana Torinese and Claviere with the French resort of Montgenèvre, providing an extensive network of interconnected slopes. The town hosted freestyle skiing events during the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics. Its old town retains narrow lanes and traditional wooden alpine chalets, overlooked by the San Giusto church. Sauze d'Oulx is well known for its lively evening scene, drawing a strong following among British and Scandinavian holidaymakers, with plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from. The surrounding pine and larch forests make it suitable for skiing in winter as well as hiking and mountain biking during the summer months. Thanks to its favourable aspect, the resort enjoys plenty of sunshine, making it a popular year-round destination for outdoor activities in the mountains.
