Moneglia

Moneglia is a small coastal town in Liguria, in the province of Genoa, on the Riviera di Levante, situated between Deiva Marina and Sestri Levante. The village spreads around two sandy beaches divided by a rocky headland, backed by hills covered in olive groves and the terraced cultivation typical of the region. The historic centre retains a network of narrow lanes and colourful houses, along with two notable religious buildings, the Church of Santa Croce and the Church of San Giorgio. The town is served by a railway station on the Genoa–La Spezia line, making it a convenient base for day trips to the Cinque Terre and Portovenere, while remaining quieter and less crowded than those nearby destinations. The mild Mediterranean climate allows for an extended seaside season, and the surrounding hills offer walking trails linking the coastal villages. Local cuisine highlights Ligurian staples such as olive oil, basil and fresh seafood dishes. Moneglia therefore offers a balanced combination of seaside relaxation and access to the natural and architectural heritage of the Riviera di Levante.
