Raphele-les-Arles

Raphèle-lès-Arles is a village forming part of the commune of Arles, in the Bouches-du-Rhône department of Provence. Located in the Crau plain, between Arles and Salon-de-Provence, the area is characterised by a typically rural southern French landscape, shaped largely by agriculture, including the production of Crau hay, which holds protected designation of origin status. The Mediterranean climate brings hot, dry summers well suited to outdoor pursuits, along with mild winters. Arles itself lies just a short distance away, providing easy access to the town's rich Roman and medieval heritage, a UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring Roman arenas, an ancient theatre and historic streets associated with Vincent van Gogh's time there. The surrounding countryside also lends itself to cycling and walking, as well as to exploring Camargue traditions, with the Camargue region itself close by. This quiet, agricultural setting makes for a restful stay while serving as a convenient base for discovering the major sights of Provence, taking in Arles, the Alpilles hills and the Camargue wetlands.
