Miremont

Miremont is a small rural commune in the Puy-de-Dôme department, within the Combrailles region, just a few kilometres from Pontgibaud and not far from Clermont-Ferrand. The village sits amid wooded hills and pastureland typical of this granite plateau, on the edge of the Volcans d'Auvergne Regional Natural Park. The quiet, sparsely built-up surroundings suit nature-based tourism, with walking trails criss-crossing the Combrailles countryside and easy access to the Sioule gorges, known for their dramatic scenery and outdoor pursuits such as fishing and canoeing. The area retains a strong rural character shaped by cattle farming and traditional volcanic-stone architecture. History enthusiasts can visit the nearby town of Pontgibaud, noted for its château and former silver-mining heritage.
