Chiclana de la frontera

Chiclana de la Frontera is a town in the province of Cádiz, in Andalusia, on Spain's Costa de la Luz. It is best known for La Barrosa Beach, a long stretch of fine sand backed by dunes and pine trees, regularly ranked among the finest beaches on Spain's Atlantic coast. Nearby, the Novo Sancti Petri area is home to hotel complexes, golf courses and the Sancti Petri district, with its small fishing harbour and the remains of an old castle. The historic town centre retains typical Andalusian architecture, with whitewashed streets and lively squares. Chiclana is also known for its long-standing spa tradition, linked to natural sulphurous springs once used for therapeutic purposes. Local cuisine focuses on seafood, particularly fried fish and shellfish, alongside wines from the wider Cádiz region. The mild climate for much of the year encourages outdoor pursuits such as golf, coastal walking and water sports. Chiclana serves as a convenient base for exploring the Costa de la Luz, being close to Cádiz, Conil de la Frontera and the Bahía de Cádiz Natural Park.
