Gramat

Gramat is a small town in the Lot department, in the Occitanie region, set at the heart of the Causse de Gramat, a vast limestone plateau typical of the Quercy area. It serves as a convenient base for visiting major regional attractions, including Rocamadour and the Gouffre de Padirac, both just a few kilometres away. The town is home to the Parc animalier de Gramat, a wooded wildlife park showcasing European fauna, as well as a weekly market known for local produce such as foie gras, walnuts and Quercy truffles. The surrounding landscape, marked by dry limestone grassland, sinkholes and traditional dry-stone huts known as cazelles, is well suited to walking and exploring the rural heritage of the area. Nearby villages such as Autoire and Loubressac, listed among the most beautiful villages in France, add further interest to the surrounding countryside. Gramat enjoys a temperate climate with warm, dry summers typical of south-west France. The town retains an authentic feel, with its covered market hall and local shops, while acting as a practical starting point for exploring the nearby Dordogne valley.
