Meyssac

Meyssac is a village in the Corrèze department of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, set in the heart of the Bas-Limousin region and just a short distance from Collonges-la-Rouge, one of France's officially listed 'Most Beautiful Villages'. Like its well-known neighbour, Meyssac is notable for its red sandstone architecture, particularly visible around its arcaded square and covered market hall, which still hosts a traditional market. The village retains an authentic rural character, surrounded by orchards of apple and walnut trees typical of the Limousin countryside. The area is well suited to walking, with paths linking the region's characterful villages, and to exploring local heritage, including Turenne Castle a few kilometres away and the nearby Dordogne valley. The climate is temperate oceanic with some continental influence, bringing warm summers and mild winters. Meyssac makes a convenient base for exploring the Collonges-la-Rouge area, sampling regional produce such as walnuts, chestnuts and farm goods, and enjoying a quiet, human-scale setting representative of Corrèze's rural charm.
