Corbon

Corbon is a small rural commune in the Orne department, located in the Perche natural region of Normandy, close to Mortagne-au-Perche. This gently rolling countryside, known for its bocage landscape, dense woodland and green scenery, offers a peaceful and unspoilt setting well suited to countryside stays. The Perche region is historically linked to the breeding of the Percheron horse and to distinctive rural architecture, including timber-framed houses and stone longhouses. The area is ideal for walking and cycling, as well as exploring local heritage, with small villages, manor houses and rural churches scattered across the surrounding countryside. The market town of Mortagne-au-Perche, a few kilometres away, is a good place to sample local produce, notably its renowned black pudding (boudin noir). The climate is temperate and fairly damp, typical of north-western France, with mild summers and cool winters. Corbon therefore makes a quiet base from which to explore the Perche area of the Orne, combining nature, regional gastronomy and genuine rural heritage away from the bustle of towns and cities.
