Kisa

Kisa is a small Swedish town in the Kinda municipality, Östergötland province, on the shores of Lake Åsunden. It marks one end of the Kinda Canal, a historic waterway linking several lakes to Linköping, popular in summer with leisure boats and canoeists. The surrounding area is characterised by extensive coniferous forests, numerous lakes and the typical rural landscape of southern Sweden, well suited to walking, fishing and cycling. The climate is temperate continental, with mild, bright summers thanks to the long Nordic daylight hours, and cold, often snowy winters ideal for activities such as cross-country skiing and skating on frozen lakes. Kisa serves as a pleasant base for exploring the Östergötland countryside, with its traditional red timber farmhouses and nature trails. The atmosphere is calm and unspoilt, well away from the usual tourist crowds, making it a good choice for family or group getaways centred on Sweden's natural scenery and countryside heritage.
