Rättvik

Rättvik is a small town in the Dalarna province of Sweden, set on the shores of Lake Siljan, one of the country's largest lakes. The town is known for its long wooden pier, Rättviksbryggan, which stretches far out into the lake and serves as a popular local landmark for walking and summer swimming. The centre retains traditional wooden houses characteristic of the region, along with a lively summer market. Rättvik lies along the route of the Vasaloppet, the famous cross-country ski race that crosses Dalarna each winter, making the area a well-known destination for Nordic skiing. The Gammelgården open-air museum offers insight into the region's rural past. The area is also known for its craftsmanship, including the decorative Dala-style folk painting associated with the region.
