Sälen

Sälen is a mountain resort located in the Dalarna province of central Sweden, close to the Norwegian border. It is one of the country's largest ski areas, comprising several resorts such as Lindvallen, Högfjället, Tandådalen and Stöten, spread across the Sälenfjällen mountain range. The region is known for its slopes suited to all levels, its terrain parks and its cross-country skiing trails, as well as for being the traditional starting point of the Vasaloppet, the famous cross-country ski race that runs from Sälen to Mora. Outside the winter season, the area also draws hikers and mountain bikers thanks to its forests and rolling terrain typical of central Scandinavia. The climate is continental and cold, with reliable snow cover from December to April. Accommodation, often in the form of timber chalets, is designed to welcome families and groups looking to enjoy mountain sports. Sälen remains primarily a nature and outdoor-activity destination, set within a quiet, forested mountain landscape far removed from urban life.
