Guissény

Guissény is a village in the north of Finistère, in the Léon region, just a few kilometres from Lannilis and Plouguerneau. The village retains a rural, coastal character typical of this part of Brittany, set between farmland and a maritime shoreline. It is best known for the Curnic marsh nature reserve, a protected wetland popular with birdwatchers for observing migratory species, and for Vougot beach, a broad stretch of sand backed by dunes, well suited to swimming, land yachting and walking. The coastal footpath (GR34) runs along the shoreline, giving access to the Sainte-Marguerite dunes, another protected natural area. Local heritage includes a few megalithic remains as well as chapels characteristic of the Léon area. Guissény remains a quiet destination, well suited to nature-based stays and coastal walking holidays, within easy reach of larger resorts in northern Finistère such as Brignogan-Plages and Lannilis. The temperate oceanic climate allows outdoor activities for much of the year.
