Le Conquet

Le Conquet is a small harbour town in Finistère, at the westernmost tip of Brittany, not far from Brest. Its sheltered port, one of the oldest in the region, still supports small-scale fishing and serves as the departure point for ferries to the islands of Ouessant and Molène. The old town retains cobbled lanes and stone houses typical of Breton ports, making for a pleasant stroll. The commune also extends to the Kermorvan headland, which offers open views over the sea and the Molène archipelago. The surrounding coastline is rugged, alternating between sandy beaches and rocky coves, with footpaths forming part of the GR34 coastal trail, ideal for walking. Nearby lies the Pointe Saint-Mathieu, known for its still-active lighthouse and the ruins of a former abbey. The oceanic climate, with mild summers and temperate winters, encourages outdoor pursuits such as hiking, cycling and seabird watching. Le Conquet remains a popular destination for its authentic atmosphere and its direct access to the westernmost islands of Brittany.
