Chissay-en-Touraine

Chissay-en-Touraine is a village in the Loir-et-Cher département, located in the Cher valley within the Touraine region, just a few kilometres from Montrichard and the renowned Château de Chenonceau. The village enjoys a typical rural Loire Valley setting, nestled between vine-covered hillsides and riverbanks, making it well suited to walking and outdoor activities such as cycling, with the Loire à Vélo route passing through the area. The commune retains a modest but authentic architectural heritage, including a number of troglodyte dwellings carved into the local tufa stone, a feature characteristic of this part of Touraine. Its central location makes it a convenient base for visiting the great Loire châteaux, including Chenonceau, Amboise and Chaumont-sur-Loire, as well as neighbouring wine villages producing Touraine appellation wines.
