Città Sant'Angelo

Città Sant'Angelo is a hilltop town in the Abruzzo region, within the province of Pescara, just a few kilometres from the Adriatic coast. Its medieval historic centre, still enclosed by old town walls, offers sweeping views over the sea on one side and the Gran Sasso mountains on the other. Notable buildings include the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria Maggiore and the Church of Sant'Agostino, along with several noble palaces reflecting the town's history. Nearby, just off the A14 motorway, lies a well-known designer outlet village that draws visitors from across the region. The surrounding countryside is typical of Abruzzo, given over to olive groves and vineyards, including the production of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo wine. The town's location makes it easy to combine a countryside stay with day trips to the beaches of Pescara or Silvi, as well as excursions into the mountainous hinterland. The Mediterranean climate, softened by the sea's proximity, makes the area pleasant for much of the year, with warm summers and mild winters.
