Fuencaliente

Fuencaliente de la Palma lies at the southern tip of the island of La Palma, in the Canary Islands. The municipality is defined by its volcanic landscape, featuring the San Antonio Volcano and the Teneguía Volcano, the latter being the youngest in the Canaries, having erupted in 1971. Visitors can follow hiking trails crossing black lava fields and sparse vegetation typical of the island's southern reaches. The Fuencaliente Lighthouse, at the very southern edge, marks the southernmost point of La Palma and overlooks salt pans that remain in traditional use today. The area is also known for its wine production, shaped by distinctive volcanic soils; several local bodegas, including Bodegas Teneguía, offer tastings of malvasía wines. The climate here is dry and sunny for much of the year, contrasting with the greener north of the island. Fuencaliente remains a popular stop for exploring La Palma's volcanic geology and enjoying a well-preserved natural setting, away from the more heavily touristed parts of the Canary Islands.
