Santa Teresa di Gallura

Santa Teresa di Gallura sits at the northern tip of Sardinia, in the historic Gallura region, facing the Strait of Bonifacio and Corsica, with ferry crossings of around an hour. Founded in the early nineteenth century, the town retains a sixteenth-century Spanish watchtower, the Torre di Longosardo, overlooking Rena Bianca, a fine white-sand beach right in the town centre. A few kilometres away, Capo Testa is known for its wind-sculpted granite formations and lighthouse, as well as the remains of an ancient Roman quarry where unfinished columns still bear witness to local granite extraction. The surrounding coastline features coves such as Porto Pozzo and Cala Spinosa, alongside cork oak woodland typical of the Gallura area. The region also produces Vermentino di Gallura, a well-regarded white wine. The Mediterranean climate, clear waters and steady winds make it popular for sailing, diving and beach holidays in summer, while the granite-studded hinterland offers scope for walking, reflecting the distinctive landscape of northern Sardinia.
