Porto Pozzo

Porto Pozzo is a small coastal hamlet within the municipality of Santa Teresa Gallura, in the historic Gallura region at the very northern tip of Sardinia. It lies alongside a shallow lagoon, the Stagno di Porto Pozzo, separated from the sea by a strip of dunes and maritime pines, an area valued locally for oyster and mussel farming. The settlement faces the Strait of Bonifacio, which separates Sardinia from Corsica, offering clear views across to the Corsican coastline on fine days. The surrounding landscape is typified by Mediterranean scrubland, pink granite outcrops, and small coves that remain largely untouched by mass tourism. Porto Pozzo sits just a short distance from the centre of Santa Teresa Gallura, known for its Rena Bianca beach and harbour, from which ferries depart for Bonifacio. Nearby Capo Testa, with its wind-sculpted rock formations, ranks among the most photographed natural sites in the region. The Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers tempered by sea breezes, makes the area well suited to sailing, kayaking and diving, as well as coastal walks along the rugged shoreline.
