Bad Hofgastein

Bad Hofgastein is a spa town in the Gastein Valley, in the Austrian federal state of Salzburg, sitting at roughly 850 metres above sea level. Neighbouring Bad Gastein, it shares a long-standing tradition of thermal springs and radon therapy, used since the 19th century for treating rheumatic conditions among others. The town offers modern spa facilities, including the year-round Alpentherme complex. Surrounded by Alpine peaks, Bad Hofgastein forms part of the Ski amadé ski area, providing winter access to numerous slopes linked with Bad Gastein and Dorfgastein. In summer, the surrounding region is well suited to hiking, with trails leading up to alpine pastures and neighbouring valleys, as well as mountain biking. The town centre retains a traditional Austrian character, with colourful façades and a parish church marking its historic heart.
