Fügen

Fügen is a village in the Zillertal valley in Austrian Tyrol, roughly 15 km from Jenbach. Regarded as the gateway to the valley, it serves as a popular base for exploring the region throughout the year. In winter, it provides access to the Hochzillertal-Hochfügen ski area via cable car, offering varied slopes and modern facilities. The Spieljochbahn cable car, departing from the village, leads to a well-known hiking area with panoramic views over the Tyrolean Alps and traditional mountain huts. The village centre retains a traditional character, with its parish church and Schloss Fügen castle reflecting local history. The historic Zillertalbahn narrow-gauge railway runs through the village, linking the various settlements along the valley.
