Kittilä, Levi

Levi, a resort within the municipality of Kittilä, lies in Finnish Lapland, north of the Arctic Circle. Overlooked by the fell of the same name, which rises to around 531 metres, it is one of the country's leading ski destinations, boasting some sixty slopes served by numerous lifts, alongside extensive cross-country trails winding through the boreal forest for several hundred kilometres, catering to both alpine skiers and cross-country enthusiasts. The area is also well known for the northern lights, visible during the long polar night, as well as the midnight sun in summer. Winter activities include husky and snowmobile safaris, reindeer encounters and opportunities to learn about Sámi culture. In summer, hiking, mountain biking and fishing in the many surrounding lakes and rivers are popular pursuits. The village offers shops, restaurants and services geared towards an international tourist clientele, with convenient access via Kittilä Airport, located roughly fifteen kilometres from the resort centre.
