Raasepori

Raasepori is a town in southern Finland, in the Uusimaa region, formed in 2009 through the merger of Karis, Ekenäs and Pojo. Bilingual in character, it has a significant Swedish-speaking population and retains a distinctive architectural charm, with colourful wooden houses lining the historic centre of Ekenäs. The town borders the Baltic Sea archipelago, offering a scenic setting well suited to sailing, fishing and coastal walks during the summer months. The medieval ruins of Raseborg Castle, located a few kilometres from the centre, are a notable historical landmark in the area. The surrounding countryside features wooded and lakeside landscapes typical of southern Finland, ideal for hiking and cross-country skiing in winter. The climate is temperate maritime, with mild summers and cold, snowy winters. Raasepori benefits from good rail connections to Helsinki, roughly an hour away, making it an accessible destination for a peaceful stay combining heritage, nature and coastal living.
