Kemiönsaari

Kemiönsaari is an island municipality in southwest Finland, within the Varsinais-Suomi region, formed in 2009 through the merger of the former municipalities of Kimito, Dragsfjärd and Västanfjärd. Bilingual in Finnish and Swedish, the area is typical of the Finnish archipelago, featuring an intricate coastline, channels and numerous surrounding islands. The village of Kimito is home to the Sagalund Museum, which showcases traditional rural life in the region, while the Söderlångvik estate, once owned by patron Amos Anderson, opens its park and gardens to visitors during the summer months. The harbour of Kasnäs, at the island's southern tip, serves as a gateway to the archipelago, with a marina, spa and boat connections to islands such as Örö, a former military site now part of the Archipelago National Park. Life in the region revolves around fishing, boating and nature-based tourism, under a temperate maritime climate. Traditional timber holiday homes blend into the rocky, wooded coastal scenery, offering a peaceful base for stays centred on the sea and forest.
