Friederikensiel

Friederikensiel is a small coastal hamlet within the municipality of Wangerland, in Lower Saxony, on Germany's North Sea coast. Its name ends in the suffix 'Siel', a term used in East Frisia for a tidal sluice, a feature typical of many small harbour villages along this stretch of coastline. The hamlet lies close to the Wadden Sea National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, making it a convenient starting point for guided mudflat walks (Wattwanderung) and birdwatching along the shore. The surrounding landscape is characteristic of the Frisian coast, with dykes, coastal meadows and extensive protected natural areas.
