Burhave

Burhave is a North Sea seaside resort forming part of the municipality of Butjadingen, in the Wesermarsch district of Lower Saxony. Located on the peninsula stretching between the Weser and Jade estuaries, this coastal village benefits from a maritime climate recognised for its health-giving properties, earning it official recognition as a Nordseeheilbad (North Sea health resort). The dyke running along the coastline offers a popular promenade for watching the tides and taking in the typical landscape of the Wadden Sea, a UNESCO World Heritage-listed national park. The sandy beach, lined with traditional wicker beach chairs (Strandkörbe), is the main summer draw, while the mudflats exposed at low tide allow for guided walking tours, a classic activity along this stretch of the German coast. The flat, rural surroundings are well suited to cycling and birdwatching, with the protected wetlands attracting large numbers of migratory birds. Butjadingen retains a quiet, rural character, away from the bustle of larger resorts, with modest amenities geared towards family holidays and nature lovers.
