Ostseebad Binz

Ostseebad Binz is the most popular seaside resort on the island of Rügen, on Germany's Baltic coast. It is known for its long promenade lined with white villas built in the distinctive Bäderarchitektur style of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, reflecting the resort's golden age. The fine sandy beach stretches for several kilometres and remains the main draw, complete with the traditional wicker beach chairs (Strandkorb) available for daily hire. Binz's pier (Seebrücke), rebuilt after the war, allows visitors to stroll out over the water and occasionally serves as a mooring point for excursion boats. Nearby lies Jasmund National Park, renowned for its chalk cliffs, including the well-known Königsstuhl viewpoint. Binz also makes a convenient base for exploring other parts of Rügen, such as Sassnitz and Putbus. The town offers shops, restaurants serving regional fish specialities, and various wellness and thalassotherapy facilities, all within a calm, family-friendly seaside atmosphere that becomes considerably busier during the peak summer season.
