Juliusruh

Juliusruh is a coastal village at the northern tip of the island of Rügen, in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, known for its pier (Seebrücke) stretching out into the Baltic Sea and offering open views over the coastline and the nearby cliffs of Cape Arkona. The village belongs to the municipality of Glowe and features a long, fine sandy beach backed by dunes, typical of this part of the island and popular for swimming and walking. The surroundings remain quiet and natural, with woodland and protected areas inland suitable for walking and cycling, particularly towards Jasmund National Park further east. The temperate maritime climate, with mild summers and cool winters, draws a strong seasonal influx of visitors between May and September. The nearby fishing harbour offers a chance to sample local produce, especially smoked fish, a speciality found along the German Baltic coast. Juliusruh therefore serves as a peaceful base for exploring northern Rügen, combining unspoilt nature, water-based activities and understated maritime heritage.
