Zempin

Zempin is a small seaside resort on the island of Usedom, on Germany's Baltic coast, in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The village sits at one of the narrowest points of the island, wedged between the Baltic Sea and the Achterwasser lagoon, giving it a distinctive setting with two shorelines within easy reach of one another. The main draw is the fine sandy beach lined with traditional wicker beach chairs (Strandkorb), complemented by a seafront promenade that feels quieter than those in neighbouring resorts such as Zinnowitz or Koserow. The traditional fishing harbour is a good spot to sample smoked fish and other local specialities prepared by local fishermen. The village still features a handful of thatched-roof houses typical of the Usedom region. The nearby nature reserve offers opportunities for walking and cycling along the coastline and around the Achterwasser lagoon. Zempin remains a more low-key destination compared with the island's larger resorts, valued for its relaxed atmosphere and direct access to the surrounding countryside, while still benefiting from Usedom's broader tourist infrastructure.
