Karlshagen

Karlshagen is a seaside resort on the island of Usedom, on Germany's Baltic Sea coast in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The town features a wide sandy beach backed by dunes and a pine forest that shelters the seafront. A pier (Seebrücke) extends into the Baltic and serves as a popular spot for walks. Karlshagen lies right next to Peenemünde, a historically significant site linked to WWII-era rocket testing, now home to a technical museum. The village is part of Usedom's officially recognised network of seaside resorts (Seebad) and enjoys a mild maritime climate, well suited to both relaxing breaks and health-focused stays. The seafront is lined with promenades and cycle paths, including links to the Baltic Sea Coastal Cycle Route, making it easy to reach neighbouring villages such as Zinnowitz and Trassenheide. Fishing, watersports and long beach walks are typical pastimes here. Karlshagen remains a family-friendly destination, quiet outside the busy summer season, combining coastal nature with regional historical heritage.
