Vilamoura

Vilamoura is a coastal resort in the southern Algarve, within the municipality of Loulé, developed from the 1970s onwards around a large marina that remains the town's focal point today. This yachting harbour is lined with restaurants, bars and shops, and serves as a starting point for boat excursions, including dolphin-watching trips and deep-sea fishing outings. The area is particularly well known for its golf courses, with several renowned venues nearby, drawing golfers year-round thanks to the mild climate. Vilamoura also has a casino and long stretches of fine sandy beach, such as Praia da Marina, easily reached on foot or by shuttle from the centre. Close by, the Cerro da Vila archaeological site displays Roman and Moorish remains, reflecting the long history of settlement in the region. Conveniently located around twenty minutes from Faro Airport, Vilamoura makes a practical base for exploring the wider Algarve, with its coves, cliffs and traditional villages within easy reach.
