Bonifacio

Bonifacio occupies a striking position at the southern tip of Corsica, perched atop limestone cliffs that rise some sixty metres above the Mediterranean Sea. The citadel, founded in the 9th century, retains its fortified old town with narrow lanes, Genoese ramparts and the King of Aragon's Staircase carved into the rock. The bustling marina forms the heart of the town's tourist activity, lined with restaurants and shops. The surrounding area boasts well-known natural sites such as the Lavezzi Islands, reachable by boat, along with Sperone beach and the Piantarella area, both popular for diving and sailing. The town enjoys a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers, ideal for water sports from April to October. Its proximity to Sardinia, visible on clear days, adds to the area's geographical appeal. Local cuisine highlights seafood, Corsican charcuterie and sheep's milk cheese.
