Argegno

Argegno is a picturesque village on the western shore of Lake Como, situated at the mouth of the River Telo, at the entrance to the Val d'Intelvi. The village is crossed by a stone bridge dating back to the 17th century, a distinctive feature of its historic centre with narrow lanes and the colourful façades typical of lakeside villages in Lombardy. Argegno is particularly known for its cable car linking the lakeshore to the hilltop village of Pigra, offering sweeping views over Lake Como and the surrounding mountains. The small harbour and lakeside promenade provide lovely views across the water and serve as a convenient starting point for boat trips to Sala Comacina and the Isola Comacina, the lake's only island. The village also acts as a gateway to the Val d'Intelvi, a hilly area well suited to walking and home to villages such as Schignano.
