Musso

Musso is a small village nestled on the western shore of Lake Como, in Lombardy, within the area known as the Upper Lake. It is distinguished by the Sasso di Musso, a striking rocky promontory that overlooks the water and offers views across the lake towards neighbouring villages such as Dongo and Gravedona. The site holds the remains of an old fortress, the Rocca di Musso, historically linked to the Medici family in the 16th century. The village retains the charm of a traditional lakeside settlement, with narrow lanes, colourful houses and a small harbour once used by local fishermen. Its location makes it a convenient base for exploring the Upper Lake Como area, which sees fewer visitors than the lake's southern stretches, and for activities such as hiking in the surrounding hills or boating on the lake. The climate, moderated by the lake itself, allows for pleasant visits from spring through to autumn. Musso remains a low-key destination, valued for its unspoilt natural surroundings and genuine atmosphere, away from the busier tourist spots found elsewhere around Lake Como.
