Menfi

Menfi is a town in south-western Sicily, in the province of Agrigento, set along the Mediterranean coast. The area is particularly known for its winemaking tradition, falling within the Menfi DOC appellation and home to several well-regarded estates, including some of the island's largest vineyards. The coastline, with sandy beaches such as Porto Palo di Menfi and Lido Fiori, draws visitors during the summer months and allows for an easy combination of seaside time with exploration of the surrounding countryside. The town centre was largely rebuilt following the 1968 Belice earthquake, resulting in a modern layout of squares and religious buildings, including the main church dedicated to the Annunciation. The surrounding landscape is typical of western Sicily, with olive groves, vineyards and gentle hills well suited to countryside walks and farm-stay tourism. Local gastronomy centres on olive oil, regional white and red wines, and fresh seafood. Menfi makes a quiet base for exploring the Sicilian Mediterranean coast and nearby archaeological sites such as Selinunte, located a short distance away.
