Campofelice di Roccella

Campofelice di Roccella is a coastal town in the province of Palermo, Sicily, set along the Tyrrhenian Sea at the foot of the Madonie mountains. Its long stretch of fine sandy beach draws summer visitors to its seasonal beach clubs, while the surrounding countryside is given over to olive groves and citrus orchards. The town is known among motorsport enthusiasts for its racetrack, built in the 1970s to partly replace the historic road circuit of the Targa Florio, which once ran through this stretch of the Madonie. The historic centre, more modest than those of neighbouring towns, retains the feel of a traditional Sicilian village. Nearby Cefalù, around twenty minutes away, offers easy access to its medieval old town and Norman cathedral. The Mediterranean climate, with hot dry summers and mild winters, supports a beach tourism season concentrated between June and September. The surrounding area also offers walking opportunities in the Madonie Regional Park, a nature reserve well regarded for its biodiversity and hilltop villages.
