Supetar

Supetar is the main town on the island of Brač, in central Dalmatia, linked to Split by a regular ferry service of around one hour. This lively port retains a historic centre with cobbled lanes and stone façades typical of Dalmatian architecture, along with a notable cemetery housing the Petrinović family mausoleum, a work by sculptor Ivan Rendić. The town is set around several pebble beaches and pine-shaded coves, well suited to swimming and watersports. The ferry connection also makes it easy to arrange day trips to Split, from where canyoning excursions in the Cetina River gorge—a popular activity in the region—depart. Inland, Brač offers hillside landscapes covered in vineyards and olive groves, with traditional villages to explore on foot or by car. The Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers, supports an active seaside tourism season from May to September. Supetar therefore serves as a convenient base for combining coastal relaxation with excursions around the Split area.
