Motovun

Motovun is a medieval hilltop village in the Istrian interior of Croatia, overlooking the Mirna river valley. Encircled by well-preserved Venetian walls dating back to the 13th century, the village offers sweeping views from its cobbled lanes and main terrace across surrounding forests renowned for white and black truffle harvesting, a speciality closely associated with the region. The atmosphere is generally quiet, with a handful of restaurants and traditional konobas serving Istrian dishes featuring truffles, local cheese and regional wine.
