Savudrija

Savudrija is a small coastal village located at the far north-western tip of Istria, Croatia, right by the Slovenian border and just a short drive from the town of Umag. The village is particularly known for its lighthouse, regarded as one of the oldest on the Adriatic coast, dating back to the early 19th century, which remains a notable landmark along this stretch of coastline. The area offers a peaceful setting, surrounded by pine woods and rocky coves typical of this part of Istria. The beaches, often pebbly or made up of flat rocks, are well suited to swimming and water activities such as diving and snorkelling. Savudrija enjoys a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers, making it a popular spot for seaside holidays between June and September. Its proximity to Umag provides easy access to shops, restaurants and more developed tourist facilities, particularly around the marina and sports grounds, with the region being well known for tennis. The village retains a quiet, residential character, making it a good choice for relaxed seaside stays away from Istria's busier resort towns.
