Brtonigla Buje

Brtonigla and Buje lie inland in western Istria, Croatia, just a short drive from the Adriatic coast and seaside towns such as Novigrad and Umag. This gently rolling countryside is known for its vineyards and olive groves, producing the local Malvazija istriana white wine and olive oil well regarded throughout the region. Buje, set on a hilltop, retains a historic centre with Venetian-influenced architecture, narrow lanes, old walls and a bell tower, offering wide views over the surrounding countryside and, on clear days, towards the sea. Brtonigla, a smaller village, is surrounded by farmland and traditional konoba taverns serving Istrian dishes based on truffles, cured meats and local produce.
