Korcula

Korcula is a Dalmatian island in Croatia, set along the Adriatic Sea and separated from the mainland by the Peljesac Channel. The old town, built on a small peninsula, retains a distinctive herringbone street layout dating back to medieval times, enclosed by stone walls and defensive towers reflecting Venetian influence. Notable sights include St Mark's Cathedral and several limestone palaces. The island is known for local wine production, particularly Grk and Posip varieties, as well as olive oil. Vela Luka, located at the opposite end of the island, is a working harbour town where boating trips are a popular way to explore the surrounding coastline, dotted with coves and small islets. The Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers, makes the area well suited to sailing, swimming and other sea-based activities. Inland, the island becomes greener, with rolling hills and vineyards.
