Orebić

Orebić lies on the southern coast of the Pelješac peninsula, directly facing the island of Korčula across a narrow stretch of sea. This proximity makes it easy to hop across by ferry for a short, convenient crossing to explore Korčula's fortified old town. Dubrovnik, further south, is also within reach by road or sea connection, making Orebić a handy base for exploring the wider region. The town itself, once home to seafaring captains, retains a distinctly maritime character, with stone houses and a seafront lined by pebble beaches. The surrounding countryside is covered in vineyards producing well-regarded wines from the plavac mali grape, particularly on the nearby slopes of Dingač and Postup. For a meal, konoba Zamošće serves local dishes in a simple, authentic setting. The steady wind that blows through the channel also draws windsurfers and sailors, while a Franciscan monastery perched on the hillside above town offers views over the peninsula and the strait separating it from Korčula.
