Tourrettes

Tourrettes is a hilltop village in the Var department, part of the Fayence area in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. Its old centre retains a typically Provençal character, with narrow lanes and views over the Siagne valley. The village is known for the Fayence-Tourrettes aerodrome, one of Europe's leading gliding sites, where favourable thermal conditions attract glider pilots from around the world. Nearby is the Terre Blanche estate, home to golf courses and a well-regarded spa. The medieval village of Callian, just a few kilometres away, is well worth a visit for its château, plane-tree-shaded squares and fountains, all typical of the perched villages found throughout the region. The surrounding countryside offers a rolling landscape of wooded hills, olive groves and vineyards, ideal for walking and cycling. The Mediterranean climate, with hot dry summers and mild winters, makes it easy to explore the area year-round, combining Provençal heritage, local gastronomy and outdoor pursuits.
