Rivieres

Rivières is a small village in the Tarn département, in Occitanie, located close to Gaillac, in an area known for its vineyards and the Tarn river running through it. The river allows for canoeing and kayaking, a popular way to take in the surrounding scenery from the water, amid wooded banks and gentle hills. The climate is broadly oceanic with Mediterranean touches, bringing warm, dry summers well suited to outdoor pursuits and mild winters. Nearby Gaillac is known for one of France's oldest wine-growing areas, with numerous vineyards open for tours and tastings. The surrounding countryside, made up of rolling hills and valleys, is well suited to walking and cycling. Rivières thus makes for a quiet base from which to explore the rural Tarn, combining wine heritage, river-based activities and the calm of the local countryside, just a short drive from Albi and its better-known historic sites.
