Golfe-Juan

Golfe-Juan is a seaside resort in the Alpes-Maritimes department, part of the commune of Vallauris-Golfe-Juan on the French Riviera. It is best known as the spot where Napoleon Bonaparte landed on 1 March 1815 upon his return from exile on Elba, an event marked by a commemorative monument along the seafront. The village offers a classic Mediterranean coastal setting, with fine sandy beaches, a marina, and a promenade lined with parasol pines. Its close proximity to Cannes, Antibes and Vallauris makes it easy to explore the wider area, particularly Vallauris itself, renowned for its pottery tradition and historical ties to Pablo Picasso, who worked with ceramics there during the 1950s. The mild Mediterranean climate, pleasant for most of the year, encourages outdoor pursuits such as swimming, water sports and coastal walks. Golfe-Juan tends to feel quieter than some of its more touristy neighbours, valued for its village-like Provençal atmosphere combined with the relaxed lifestyle typical of the Riviera, while remaining a convenient base for discovering the Cannes area and its hinterland.
