Les Orres 1650

Les Orres 1650 is a ski resort in the Hautes-Alpes region, forming the gateway to the Les Orres ski area, which extends up to 1800 metres. In winter, experienced skiers enjoy the Grand Cabane red run and the climb up to the Génépi summit, which offers sweeping views over the surrounding peaks. The Pic-Vert mountain restaurant, reachable by chairlift or on foot, also provides a remarkable panorama over the valley, alongside a spa with an outdoor Nordic bath. On Wednesdays, ESF ski instructors organise a torchlight descent with children, followed by a fireworks display. For dining, the restaurant Lou Cuguilloun is well regarded for the quality of its food and the warmth of its staff. Away from the slopes, the hike to Lac Sainte-Marguerite is demanding but rewards visitors with unspoilt natural surroundings, while nearby Lac de Serre-Ponçon is a popular spot to watch the sunset. An ice rink, a cinema and summer luge run round out the options on non-skiing days, and dog-sledding excursions are also available. Embrun and Savines-le-Lac, just a short drive away, make for worthwhile additions to a stay in the area.
