Courchevel Village

Courchevel Village, also known as Courchevel 1550 in reference to its altitude, is one of five villages making up the Courchevel resort in the Savoie region of the French Alps. It sits between Courchevel Le Praz and Courchevel Moriond, offering a more low-key, family-oriented atmosphere than the resort's more upmarket areas. The village gives access to the Three Valleys ski area, the largest linked ski domain in the world, connecting through to Méribel and Val Thorens among others. Courchevel was developed from the late 1940s onwards, with a layout designed for direct access to the slopes. The Courchevel altiport, known for its short, steeply sloped runway, lies nearby. The setting is one of high alpine mountains, with pine forests surrounding the village and views over the neighbouring peaks. In winter, activities centre on alpine and cross-country skiing as well as snowshoeing, while summer brings opportunities for hiking and mountain biking. The mountain climate brings cold, snowy winters and mild summers, making the area suitable for stays throughout the year.
